Editor's Note
Facing İstiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu, this historic property served as the seat of the Kingdom of Sweden's diplomatic mission to the Ottoman Empire from 1757 to the 1920s. After the empire's abolition in 1922 and the relocation of the Swedish embassy to the new capital of Ankara, it has functioned as the Swedish Consulate-General in Istanbul and as a residence for the ambassador when in town.
