Editor's Note
The hotel founded in the 1850s by the Hungarian refugee Károly Tóthfalusy became a meeting point for Hungarians visiting Istanbul in the second half of the 19th century. The building, which remained in service until the early 1900s, was recently merged with a new building immediately adjacent to the old hotel and, with an extra floor added, converted into the Taksim branch of the Richmond Hotel. On 29 June 2021 an informational panel about Hungarian cultural heritage was placed on the building's front façade.
