Editor's Note
It lies in the basement of the Kafar Han. It was published with a plan drawn up by Ernest Mamboury in 1936. The eastern corner of this rectangular cistern was destroyed during a foundation excavation in 1969, while its vaults were damaged by a later staircase built to provide access inside. In 2014 the cistern was reported to be in a well-preserved state and was being used as the storeroom of the café above it.
