Editor's Note

Designed by Orhan Şahinler following a competition held in 1963, the building was completed in 1971. It was later used as Istanbul Commerce University. According to an expert report, the building was found to be leaning 90 cm to one side; because the cost of repairing it was deemed too high, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce decided to demolish and rebuild it on the condition that the same appearance be preserved. The building, whose original façade also featured a relief by Şadi Çalık, was demolished and reconstructed in 2021.
