Editor's Note
The mosque was built in the 17th century by Sirkeci Muslihiddin. It is said that a man named Sirkeci Muslihiddin drew water by the bucketful from a well beside the mosque, that this water turned out to be vinegar (sirke), and that he built the mosque with the proceeds of selling that vinegar. Until recently a double-sided chained bucket hung over this well. The well has now been closed off. From the smartbeyoğlu website.
