Editor's Note
Unkapani Synagogue was a synagogue that once stood on Abdulezelpasa Avenue in the Cibali quarter of Istanbul's Fatih district. It was built in 1698 by a Jewish man named Avram Pasha and underwent a major restoration in 1837. Rendered unusable by a fire in 1968, it was repaired again in 1976 and was finally demolished on 18 July 1985 as part of a project to redevelop the Golden Horn area.
