Editor's Note
The house where Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar was born stood, according to the address of the time, at 36 Camii-i Şerif Street, Karagöz neighborhood, Şehzadebaşı. The house, which has not survived, was located on the Aksaray side of Haşim İşcan Underpass, on Atatürk Boulevard. From the Pervititch map it can be seen that it was a two-story timber building. Tanpınar lived in this house at various intervals until 1954.
