Editor's Note
It is said that the mosque, believed to have been built in the 17th century, was founded by either Keçeci Hayreddin or Adanalı Şakir Efendi, who supposedly built this small mosque with money saved by telling himself "as if I had eaten it." The mosque was severely damaged in a fire that broke out around Fatih-Unkapanı before the First World War. Ruined in the fire, it was rebuilt between 1959 and 1960. The mosque was constructed on an upper story in reinforced concrete. It has one large and four half domes, all clad in lead.
