Editor's Note
The Şekerciler Han, with its 105 rooms full of memories, built during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror in the Malta Bazaar adjoining the Efdalzâde Medrese on İslambol Avenue, is one of the few works erected just after the conquest of Istanbul. The han's upper floor was added later. In the 19th century, many famous figures of our cultural world stayed here, such as the sheikh of the blind Osman Kemâlî, Said Nursî, Mehmet Âkif Ersoy, Celal Ökten, Neyzen Tevfik, Mustafa Hilmi Uran, Şükrü Saraçoğlu, and the Nevrekop Bektashi Kabulî Hüsnü Baba.
