The Polish traveler Simeon, who was in Istanbul between 1608 and 1619, writes in his travel account that in Balat there is a church half of which belongs to the Franks and half to the Armenians, where the two communities worship together, by which he means the Surp Nikoğayos (St. Nicholas) Church at Edirnekapı.
