Cevizli Tekel Kampüsü is a historic building in Kartal, İstanbul; In the early years of the Republic, after the era of the Régie tobacco monopoly, a small tobacco experiment house was set up in Kartal-Maltepe in 1931 in order to develop industry and agriculture and to resolve the difficulties surrounding the seeds of tobacco, which was regarded as a high-yielding source of economic income.

In the early years of the Republic, after the era of the Régie tobacco monopoly, a small tobacco experiment house was set up in Kartal-Maltepe in 1931 in order to develop industry and agriculture and to resolve the difficulties surrounding the seeds of tobacco, which was regarded as a high-yielding source of economic income. The site was chosen because tobacco had long been grown in this region by Drama immigrants dating back to Ottoman times. To turn the Tobacco Experiment Houses established in various parts of Turkey by 1935 into an institutional structure, it was decided to found an Institute.
