The mermaid statue, commissioned from painter and sculptor Feryal Taneri by the Princes' Islands Independent Art Platform, was unveiled on 1 June 2014 at the Kumsal area of Büyükada, with the participation of Princes' Islands Mayor Atilla Aytaç and the artists.
