Editor's Note
This is the summer villa where the family of Şakir Pasha, governor of Crete, lived — a family that also included the writer Cevad Şakir Kabaağaçlı (the Fisherman of Halicarnassus), the painter Fahrelnissa Zeid, the ceramic and engraving artist Aliye Berger, and the ceramic artist Füreya Koral. The villa, built by G. Rosolatos, stands on a site formerly occupied by the Panagia Monastery.
