Editor's Note
The Akasya Hotel, formerly named 'Hotel Calypso,' burned down in a fire in 1979 and was rebuilt faithfully to its original form. Its architect was Niko Kefala. It is said that Atatürk gave it the name Akasya. Famous figures such as Müzeyyen Senar performed at this hotel. Among the hotel's notable guests were the Greek Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos (1930) and King Zog I of Albania (1934). Today the hotel is used as a residence.
