Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 1273 / 1856–1857 CE. Its inscription: The fountain of the Kapı Ağası that once stood at this very spot had lain in ruins for many years. Now Mahmud Beyefendi has built it anew, earning reward and merit for his father's soul. Indeed, a beautiful work of charity has been completed, so that as the young and the swift drink water from this fountain. May the son of İnce Alemdar Mehmed Pasha be quenched, O Lord, from the wellspring of Kevser. With a single line of chronogram, Senih said to the thirsty: This fountain has flowed; come, take and drink water for the love of Hüseyin.
