Editor's Note
According to the information given under the heading 'Langa Mosque' in the Encyclopedia of Our Mosques, the structure was probably built in the 16th century and was a small, fine mosque. The study Istanbul's Vanished Cultural Assets notes that, because the mosque was enlarged over time and had also fallen into ruin, it was rebuilt in 1868 (AH 1285). The mosque's inscription bears the names of the patron and the restorer, and its final line gives the date of restoration as 1870 (AH 1287) by abjad calculation. Its inscription is also preserved by the Museum of Turkish Construction and Art Works.
