The major infrastructure works for the city coincided with the period when the Istanbul Water Company, founded by the French, began supplying Istanbul with pressurized water from Lake Terkos. Water from Lake Terkos, pumped from the Terkos Pump Station, passed through various siphons to reach Kağıthane. It then arrived at the water reservoir in Bomonti and at the water tower known as the Château. From there, the water stored in the pools in Feriköy was distributed to the city from the pump station. This reservoir was part of the Terkos Water Supply Line and was built in the late 19th century.
