Editor's Note
Built in 1891, the building was commissioned by Şahbazyan, an Armenian brick manufacturer who lived in the area. Having passed to the state treasury in the early 20th century, the house began to be used as a boys' school in 1922-23. Still used as a school under the name Hoca İshak Armenian Primary School in 1942, the building suffered fires in both 1982 and 1984; it was repaired in 1984 and put back into use as a school.
