Editor's Note
The founder of the mosque, whose construction date is unknown, was Müyessir İskender Çelebi. Since it is shown as number 64 on the map of Istanbul's mosques drawn by students of the Engineering School in 1848, it is understood to have existed at that date. However, on the map dated between 1875 and 1882 and published by Ekrem Hakkı Ayverdi, it is marked as 'Mosque Ruin.' In notes added to the printed Hadikatü'l-Cevâmi by Ahmed Bey, adviser to Şeyhülislâm Mustafa Hayri Efendi, it is recorded that in the 1940s the mosque was a vacant lot and had been sold.
