Editor's Note
The Saraç Doğan Mosque was built in the 15th century by Doğan Ağa. Its endowment deed dates to 1519. It fell into ruin in a fire in 1918. The mosque's plot was expropriated for road use in 1956 during the widening of Millet Avenue. However, a plot was allocated for the mosque on the opposite side of the road. In 1975, with the participation of the Directorate of Foundations and the High Council of Monuments, a modern mosque of the same name was built. The result was a two-storey reinforced-concrete mosque of modern type, with shops underneath, bearing no relation to the original.
