Editor's Note
The Neslişah Mosque was commissioned in the 16th century by Neslişah Hanım Sultan, the granddaughter of Bayezid II through his daughter Gevherimülük. The mosque, which fell into ruin over time from neglect, was repaired in 1955 with the help of the public. The mosque, on the left side of a large walled garden, has walls built of cut stone. To the right of the minaret, a glass-fronted vestibule reached by fourteen marble steps leads up to the upper gallery. The reinforced-concrete upper gallery, added later, wraps around the prayer hall on three sides in a "U" shape. Two square-section columns divide the gallery in two.
