The New Guraba Hospital (now the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Building) was designed as a hospital complex whose foundations were laid in 1911 and which is one of the most important representatives, in the field of health, of the modernisation efforts undertaken in the long-established institutions of the Ottoman Empire during the Second Constitutional Era. After it was understood that repairing the outdated old Guraba-i Müslimîn Hospital would be inadequate, it was built by the Ministry of Foundations of the time with the aim of creating a new and large complex in line with modern health standards.
