Editor's Note
It was commissioned by the Istanbul kadı (judge) Şeyh Hüsamettin Efendi in AH 1040 / AD 1630. The minaret of this masonry mosque was built, in an unusual arrangement, above the arch of the entrance door. After the building fell into ruin over time and only its wall remnants survived, charitable members of the public, through the mosque association, rebuilt it between 1985 and 1988. The grave of its patron, said in the sources to lie in the cemetery, could not be located.
