Editor's Note
Aydın Kethüda, the representative agent of Davud Paşa, one of the grand viziers during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II (1481-1512), had this mosque built in his own name. Its construction date is not known for certain, but it can be estimated to date from the early 16th century. This mosque, built of wood and without a dome, was converted into the Aydın Kethüda Mosque when Seyyid Mehmet Ağa, known by the nickname Çelebi Ulak, had a minbar installed. The Aydın Kethüda Mosque was rebuilt in reinforced concrete between 1965 and 1970. The enclosed portico for latecomers was added later. An imam's room is located here.
