The school was founded in 1931. The building's plot was expropriated by the Istanbul provincial special accounts office, and the school was built in 1931. From its founding until 1949 it was known as the 34th Primary School. In 1949 it was named Karaahmetpaşa by the Ministry of National Education. Kara Ahmet Paşa was the son-in-law of Rüstem Paşa, who was himself the son-in-law of Suleiman the Magnificent. For many years the school served as the only school in the area, but owing to rising student numbers in the 1939-1940 school year it switched to double-shift teaching.
