Editor's Note
This is the smaller portion of a cemetery that was split in two by a road cut through it during the 1973 ring-road works. It holds 240 Ottoman gravestones. Gravestones removed from the area turned into a park were also brought here. The oldest dates from 1625-1626. The graves of Sarı Abdullah Efendi (d. 1660), a leading figure of the Melâmî order, and of the poet Süleyman Nahifî (d. 1738-1739) are here. About 35 gravestones, preserved raised above the ground and enclosed by a wall, bear witness to a historic event.
