Editor's Note
The lodge stood in Fatih's Melek Hatun neighbourhood, at the corner of Lalizade and Selamağası Streets, on plot 12 of block 1509. It came into being in AH 1251 / AD 1835-36, when El-hacc Hasan Kudsi bin El-Hacc Mehmet Emin Efendi of Damascus/Jerusalem, famous as "Şeyh Matrak" and one of the sheikhs of the Sa'diyye order, had a sheikhdom established at the Arpa Emini (Arpacı Mehmet Efendi) Mosque where he served as imam.
