Editor's Note
"The fountain (sebil) was on the left side of the mosque. Travellers were given water from a marble sebil well. The sebil's design was beautiful and the water of its well was sweet. According to the Sakine Hatun foundation, because seven tables of food were laid out each day for those passing along that road, she became famous under the name 'Sakine Hatun of the Seven Tables,' and in this way, for more than four hundred years, water was given from her sebil and food from her table. The Balkan War and the Great World War that followed took their toll here too, leaving it neglected and in a wretched state, and on 13 June 1956 the municipality had these lofty works demolished and destroyed. The site stands empty today."
