Located at the entrance of Yildiz Technical University's Davutpasa Campus, the Historic Bakery Building was built during the reign of Abdulhamid II. An archival document dated 1311/1894 records that the historic structure supplied bread to the soldiers in the barracks and to Maltepe Hospital. The building bears the Ottoman state coat of arms from the reign of Abdulhamid II, with an inscription beneath the coat of arms. The structure was registered as a cultural asset by decision no. 2005 of the Istanbul No. 1 Council for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage, dated 1 August 1990.
