This is one of the old structures belonging to the Davutpasa plain. Its construction is thought to date to around the first quarter of the 17th century. At the Banner Kiosk (Sancak Kosku), ceremonies were held by the sultan to receive and see off the army setting out on or returning from campaign, along with the Holy Banner (Sancak-i Serif). The banner would then be ceremonially placed in the kiosk's audience chamber. During the sultans' campaigns, the Imperial Tent (Otag-i Humayun) was pitched on the Davutpasa plain and the horsetail standards were planted here.
