Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 966 / AD 1558-1559. Its inscription: He had it built and dug in nine hundred sixty-six, leaving no chronogram; the grand vizier of Sultan Süleyman, and he without peer. For the souls of Hasan and Hüseyin he made a pleasing public fountain; its flowing from two sides is, in truth, a witness to that. In the year one thousand thirteen, knowing its origin, I, Bülbüli, said the chronogram: Lavishing his wealth, you built this graceful fountain, Ali Paşa.
