Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 1258 / AD 1842-1843. Its inscription: The Treasurer-mistress Hoşnâdi of the illustrious and bountiful Esma Sultan had this water made to flow. A fire came and ruined this fountain to its very foundations; Usta, the morning breeze, had it repaired and the running water restored. Since she later became the cause of its rebuilding through her efforts, may the Lord who is sought for help keep her dear forever, like ever-flowing water.
