A historic lighthouse, still in use, on the northern coast of the Sea of Marmara in the Yeşilköy area of Istanbul's Bakırköy district. Ships entering toward the Bosphorus from the Sea of Marmara encounter it first, using it to fix their approach. Built as a 23-metre stone tower in 1856 by Michel Pasha, it was first called Ayastefanos and was later renamed Yeşilköy Lighthouse after its neighbourhood.
