Editor's Note
The tomb's inscription reads: "The late and forgiven Muhammed bin Malkoc has passed from the abode of impermanence to the abode of eternity, in the year seven hundred and eighty-seven." The Malkocoglu Tomb stands across the street from the Coban Mustafa Pasha Complex. Until recent times it lay within a large graveyard. From the two-line marble inscription on its facade, carved in thuluth script, we learn that the tomb belongs to a person named Mehmed b. Malkoc, who died in 787 (1385) and about whose identity no clear information is available.
