Editor's Note
The fountain's imperial monogram (tuğra) has been chiseled away. Inscription: "It was built as a precious and grateful memorial of the twenty-fifth sacred anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty the Great Abdülhamid Han." On the side bearing the lion-head relief: "May God prolong his life and his might, and make the prosperity of his realm endure. Year 1318."
