Editor's Note
Dragon's teeth are a type of anti-tank fortification obstacle. They were built during World War II as part of the Çakmak Line, a plan devised by the then Chief of the General Staff, Marshal Fevzi Çakmak, against a possible German offensive. The dragon's teeth, made of concrete blocks set into the ground with rail iron added on top, are today partly submerged beneath the waters of the dam reservoir at Büyükçekmece, while most of the rest lie in fields at various locations. The dragon's teeth seen in the photograph become visible when the reservoir's water level drops.
