Although not much is known about him, various sources give his name as "Abdullah." According to some accounts, he is known as "Imam Abdullah Efendi" because he came with Fatih Sultan Mehmed Khan for the conquest of Istanbul and served as the army's imam. He was one of the sheikhs of the Qadiri order. He received a madrasa education and was also trained under the spiritual guidance of the important saints of the period. Where does the name "Telli Baba" come from? There are many different accounts about the name.
