Editor's Note

After the Eseyan Mansion on Meserburnu Avenue was demolished in 1972, cistern remains from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods were found toward the neighboring Kocatas Mansion. Behind the firewall between the Eseyan Mansion and the Kocatas Mansion to its right, vaults from the Byzantine and Ottoman eras were found; behind them the remnant of a wall built of kufeki stone, and further back a water well.
