Editor's Note
Before 1910, the Italian M. Frankini, one of the locals of Buyukdere, divided his own land into four parts and donated them to the Latin Catholics, the Armenian Orthodox, the Armenian Catholics and the Greeks to be used as cemetery grounds. The musician, poet and educator Sahak Hanciyan (1843-1910) is also buried in the Armenian Cemetery.
