Editor's Note
In the garden of Germany's Summer Residence there is a military martyrs' cemetery. The cemetery also holds a statue with an angel motif designed by the sculptor Georg Kolbe in memory of the fallen soldiers. Buried in the cemetery are 697 soldiers who died in the Gallipoli Campaign and the First and Second World Wars. Among them, the cross and star-and-crescent motifs can be seen on the grave of Von der Goltz Pasha. Also resting here are Princess Marie zu Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen, who served as a nurse in the First World War, and Field Marshal Colmar Freiherr, one of the deputy chiefs of staff of the Ottoman Army.
