Editor's Note
The mansion on Köybaşı Avenue was built in the last quarter of the 19th century in the neoclassical style using the timber lath-and-plaster (bağdadi) technique by the architect Petraki Adamantini. Set in a large garden, the building's exterior has an Empire-style influence, while the interior displays an additive style with arabesque and eclectic decoration. The harem and selamlık quarters are planned under the same roof. Behind it lies a sizable grove belonging to the mansion. 1) The first known owner of the mansion was a banker named Vlahos, who bought it from Nicholaos Aristarchis, the last Logothete who served as representative of the Greeks of Istanbul.
