Editor's Note
It stands on Tokmak Burnu, the fourth headland of the Bosphorus, at the southern end of İstinye Cove, on the İstinye–Emirgan road and on the seaward side. The first owner of this mansion, built in the second half of the 19th century, was Billuri Mehmet Efendi. It then passed in turn to the Persian ambassador Muhsin Khan, to the King of Hejaz, and to Şerif Hüseyin Bey, a member of the Council of State. Its last owner was Marshal Fuat Pasha, known as "the Mad" (Deli). A successful soldier and statesman, he was given the nickname "mad" because he spoke his mind frankly and honestly without holding back.
