Pervane Medresesi

Editor's Note

The madrasa, located to the north of the Alaaddin Mosque, was built in 1262 by the Seljuk vizier Süleyman Pervane as a memorial to the deliverance of Sinop from enemy attack. The entrance to the building is adorned with a marble-decorated portal. Inside, facing the iwan, there is a large courtyard with a fountain in the centre. On either side of the courtyard are marble columns, an arcade, and 16 small rooms behind it. Adjoining the right side is the Tomb of Gazi Çelebi. Owned by the General Directorate of Foundations, it was allocated to the Sinop Governorate in 2002 for cultural and tourism purposes.
