Editor's Note
The ruins located on the high point of Boztepe Island, next to the meteorology building, are believed to belong to the Temple of Poseidon. The temple, whose foundation traces are visible on the ground, appears from the surviving remains to have been built of large stone blocks. Following the wall traces on the foundation shows that the temple had a rectangular plan. It is thought that the temple, which dates to the Roman period, also received some additions during the Byzantine and Christian eras.
