It lies within the central district of Edirne province. It stood on Saraçlar Street - also known as Abacılar Başı - opposite the central gate of the Ali Pasha Market. It was built by Hacı Alemüddin in AH 860 (AD 1456). This man, who died in AH 864 (AD 1560), was buried at the Naqshbandi Lodge in Edirne. Built as a masjid with a dome and a single minaret, the structure was converted into a mosque in AH 1045 (AD 1635/1636), and after collapsing in the earthquake of AH 1165 (AD 1751/1752) it was rebuilt with a wooden roof.
