Editor's Note
It stands at the corner where Maarif and Ortakapı streets meet in Kaleiçi. Its date of construction has been established as AH 1324 / AD 1906 (Köylüoğlu, 1991). Its base is of stone, its body of brick, and its corners of cut stone (the stones laid in an alternating bond); its ceiling is of block stone, topped by a slightly rounded roof. The façades have small stone windows resembling the fronts of ancient temple architecture, along with iron clamps.
