Editor's Note
This bath, commissioned by Murad II, is also known as the Alaca Bath. Its inscription, now held at the Edirne Museum, states that it was built in 1444 by Murad II. The bath remained in operation until the 19th century, but after the Balkan War it was closed and abandoned, and nearly half of it has collapsed beyond use. In the Topkapı Bath, built as a double bath, the changing rooms of both sections have been destroyed and lost. The furnace and cistern of the bath survive only on the north side, adjoining the hot room of the women's section.
