It consists of a rectangular-plan barracks building in the center of a round courtyard, with artillery rooms arranged around that courtyard. Until fairly recently it was used as a storehouse. It was built between 1886 and 1888 by Ismail Hakki Bey and the Fortification Commission. It is one of the 24 redoubts that formed Edirne's defensive line and encircled the city.
