Editor's Note
This church, located 500 metres southwest of the centre of Balkaya village in Kırklareli and 100 metres southwest of the main road, was shaped by hollowing out a natural rock mass. Carved entirely from the rock, the church no longer retains its roof covering. To the north of the church stands a chapel with a cross relief in the half-dome of its apse. To the south are rectangular tombs, again cut into the rock. Inside and around the structure you can see glazed and unglazed pottery fragments from the Byzantine period.
