Editor's Note
It was commissioned in 1891 by Sultan Abdülhamid II. During the Balkan War it served in the fight against cholera and typhus epidemics. After being occupied by the French during the Armistice years, it returned to service in 1923. Following a major fire in 1928, it was repaired over two years and served as a military barracks until 1938, as an officers' club until 1985, and as the Central Military Police Station from 1985 to 2012. In 2020 it was restored as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and reopened as Dr. [...]
